The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has rejected the Supreme Court judgment that affirmed President Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s president.
Obi who made this known while reacting to the affirmation of Tinubu as a president during a world press conference at LP National Secretariat in Abuja on Monday, November 6, 2023, alleged the Supreme Court of ignoring evidence which he said, further dampens citizens’ trust in the judiciary, maintaining that the verdict is a breach of the citizens’ trust in the judiciary.
According to him, the judgment marks the end of his search for justice over the conduct of the 2023 presidential election.
Premium Politics reported some weeks ago, that the apex court dismissed the appeals of Obi, who contested under the platform of the LP in the 2023 presidential election, and that of his Peoples Democratic Party counterpart, Atiku Abubakar.
The duo had filed appeals before the Supreme Court, challenging Tinubu’s victory at the Presidential Election Petition Court.
However, the apex court corroborated the judgment of the tribunal, by setting aside the appeals by the PDP and LP candidates for lacking merit.
Reacting to the development, Obi said: “The energy of Nigerian youths has been amazing and I want to assure them that this is not the end of our journey but it is the beginning
“We shall endure, persist until he reaches our destination because one Nigeria is our destination.”
