President Bola Tinubu has donated 7,000 bags of rice to members of the All Progressives Congress in Zamfara State as part of a Ramadan package aimed at alleviating economic hardship.
The State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Yusuf Idris, announced the donation in a statement issued on Saturday in Gusau. According to Idris, the distribution of the rice was inaugurated on Friday in Gusau by the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle.
Matawalle, who was represented by the State APC Chairman, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani, officially handed over the rice to the party’s executives at the APC Secretariat in Gusau. The donation, described as a personal gesture from President Tinubu, is intended to support APC members and less-privileged individuals in the state.
“This gesture is a personal donation from Tinubu to reduce the economic hardship among the APC members and less-privileged persons in the state,” Matawalle said. He clarified that the 7,000 bags of rice would be distributed free of charge to targeted beneficiaries, including state executives, local government executives, and ward executives.
During the event, Matawalle encouraged the party members to continue praying for sustainable peace and stability in both the state and the country. He also highlighted the federal government’s ongoing efforts under President Tinubu’s leadership to combat banditry and other criminal activities in Zamfara and the wider North-West region.
“This gesture is to appreciate the efforts of the APC leadership in the state for their hard work, dedication, and loyalty, and making the party stronger and more united,” he added. Matawalle also urged continued understanding and tolerance among the party members at all levels to maintain unity within the party.
Assuring further support, Matawalle said, “As leaders, we will continue to support the party in whatever form to succeed.”
The State Secretary of the party, Ibrahim Dangaladima, expressed gratitude on behalf of the party’s members, thanking President Tinubu and Minister Matawalle for the “quick food intervention” that will ease the burden of many in the state.
