The first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, will today, February 12, visit Kano state.
Mrs Tinubu is expected to inaugurate the Faculty of Law Building named after her at the Maryam Abacha University, Kano.
Speaking to reporters in Kano, Sanusi Bature, Director General of Media and Publicity to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, said adequate security arrangements had been put in place to ensure hitch-free activities during the visit.
He said the state government, alongside the police, had drafted a compressive security network on how to provide the required security.
Bature said the state government and security agencies were working round the clock to provide a peaceful atmosphere for the visitors.
The government, therefore, appealed to residents to conduct themselves peacefully and come out en masse to receive the first lady.
Meanwhile, the News Agency of Nigeria quoted the police commissioner, Mr Hussaini Gumel, in a telephone interview, on Saturday, as saying: “We have mobilised sufficient armed personnel to provide security cover for our first lady before, during, and after the visit.
“We will not tolerate any act capable of bringing confusion before, during, and after the visit.”
