Reps probe EFCC over alleged ₦15m bribe from Bobrisky

The House of Representatives has launched an investigation into the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission following allegations of corruption involving popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky.

According to Tribune, a member representing Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara federal constituency, Hon. Patrick Umoh raised the motion titled, “Urgent Need to Investigate the Disturbing Allegation of Corruption against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Nigerian Correctional Service.”

The House, in response, resolved to set up a committee to probe the claims.

In presenting the motion, Umoh said, “The House notes the disturbing and widely circulated allegations made by Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, against key Nigerian law enforcement institutions — the EFCC and the Nigerian Correctional Service.”

He added, “It has been alleged that the EFCC dropped money laundering charges against Idris Okuneye upon receiving ₦15 million.

Furthermore, it is claimed that Bobrisky, upon conviction for defacing the naira, did not serve his sentence within the Nigerian Correctional Service but was housed elsewhere.”

The motion urged the House to form an ad-hoc committee consisting of individuals “of unquestionable integrity” to investigate the matter and submit a report within three legislative weeks.
