The reinstated Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Emeka Beke, has announced his willingness to work with Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
In an interview on Arise TV’s Morning Show on Tuesday, Beke stated that the APC is ready to put aside political differences and collaborate with the governor to develop the state.
This move comes after the Rivers State High Court dismissed the APC’s seven-member Caretaker Committee, led by Tony Okocha, a known ally of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Beke emphasized that the time for politicking is over and it’s now time for governance, expressing his desire to work with Fubara for the benefit of the state.
The APC chairman’s olive branch comes amidst a bitter power struggle between Fubara and Wike, who have been at odds since the governor’s assumption of office.
He said, “I worked with Rotimi Amaechi and he is my leader, and he has no link with Fubara.
“If he extends a hand of fellowship to APC, we will work with him and develop the state. We can’t continue fighting; Rivers is going backwards.
“You can’t have two governors in one state, even if your own son is made governor, you should allow him to function.
“We have finished the politicking; it’s now time for governance.”
