Section of Abuja Supreme Court complex on fire

A section of the Supreme Court complex is reportedly on fire.

Daily Post reported that the cause of the fire on the nation’s apex court in Abuja is yet unknown as of the time of filing this report.

Offices of three Justices have allegedly been burnt down.

Speaking with AIT News after the incident, the Supreme Court Director of Press and Information, Festus Akande, said the fire may have been cause by an electric problem and was effectively doused.

He said, “So what happened was just a normal, may be, electrical problem that resulted in a fire outbreak and the staff were able to effectively douse it with the use of the fire extinguishers that are strategically placed in the Supreme Court.

“Every floor has a lot of fire extinguishers and they were able to combat it effectively and put it off, so, it did not even spread far before the fire men were able to come and give their own support. That was all. That was what happened. Nothing more. So, we thank God no life was lost.

“We have the soft copies of all the documents that are there. So, we have e-library here. Even those ones, those are just hard copies, the soft copies are still there, so, we can still replenish the burnt library. Each chamber has a library.”
