The Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs has arrived in London, the United Kingdom, for the court trial of the embattled Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice.

Premium Politics reported that Ekweremadu and his wife were arrested in the UK for alleged conspiracy to harvest the organs of a child, who is currently in protective custody.

However, during last Wednesday’s plenary, the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, announced its intention to send a high-powered team to meet the former Deputy Senate President.

In a photograph uploaded by The Cable, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa (2nd right) and other officials, were spotted at Westminster Magistrate Court in London, ahead of the trial.

Speaking last Wednesday, Lawan urged the Federal Government to ensure that justice prevails, while mediating the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs to engage with the High Commission in Nigeria to find out more details of the case.

“There will be a delegation to London to see our colleague and his wife.  The delegation from the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs will leave in the next two days to London for that purpose. I want to urge the Federal Government and institutions to do anything to ensure that justice prevails in this case that they do so, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”

“This is very critical and important that the governing institutions provide those services that require. As for the Nigerian High Commission, we can ask for more, but they have done us proud,” he said last Wednesday.
