The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that sensitive materials required for the upcoming Ondo State governorship elections have arrived in the state.
The update was shared by the commission via its X.com (formerly Twitter) page on Monday.
A picture showing the arrival of the materials was posted alongside a caption confirming their safe arrival in Akure, the state capital.
The caption read: “Sensitive materials for the Ondo State Governorship election, scheduled for Saturday 16th November 2024, have arrived in Akure, the state capital, and have been received by officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria. The materials were conveyed to Akure by the Nigeria Airforce.”
INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, expressed confidence in the successful conduct of the election, noting that the commission had learned valuable lessons from the Edo State governorship election and other previous elections, particularly regarding logistics and results management.
Additionally, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has ordered the deployment of 6,000 officers to ensure security during the election, scheduled for November 16, 2024.
