A federal lawmaker from Oyo State, Shina Peller, has renounced his membership of the ruling All Progressives Congress and is set to announce his new political party next Tuesday.

In a tweet on Friday, Peller, who contested the Oyo North Senatorial District seat on APC platform and lost, revealed that he tried his best for the ruling party.

He wrote, “I’ve tried my best for APC, the party style of democracy in Oyo State kills my conscience and I’ve to put my people’s interest first. I’ve realized that the youths and the people will continue to be at the mercy of few at the top. I’ll announce my new political party on 21|06| 22.”

The lawmaker, who currently represents Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, recently visited a chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party in Oyo, Adebisi Olopoeyan.

Peller had faulted the conduct of the Oyo North Senatorial District primary election by the APC.

The incumbent Senator, Fatai Buhari, won a return ticket for the third time but four aspirants who contested against him, including Peller, alleged manipulation.

The aggrieved lawmaker’s visit to Olopoeyan, who also recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, had sparked defection rumour.
