Former Oyo State ALGON Chairman, Hon. Popoola Yekeen, has appealed to Nigerians to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and avoid actions that might distract him from addressing the country’s challenges.
In a statement, Popoola, an APC chieftain, cautioned against participating in protests that could hinder progress, emphasizing that the current situation in Nigeria does not support violent demonstrations.
He specifically warned against the planned “Day of Rage” protest, stating it could cause havoc, destroy existing developmental structures, and undermine the efforts of patriotic Nigerians, according to Independent.
Popoola emphasized that President Tinubu’s administration has implemented reforms and developmental projects, positioning Nigeria for a better future, and urged citizens to be patient and supportive.
“With the level of developmental structures and reforms that have been put in place by this Tinubu led administration, Nigeria is strategically and steadily heading towards a better tomorrow but if caution is not applied with this unnecessary distraction from the enemies of progress, it is very possible that the day of economic recovery we are yearning for may continue to elude us. Calling for destructive protest at this time is unpatriotic.
“So the planned protest tagged ‘Day of Rage’ indirectly has tendency to cause havoc, destroy the developmental structures that is already in place if it is allowed to happen and all the endurance and perseverance of the patriotic Nigerians so far will amount to nothing. This is the reason we are telling the youths to shelve this idea of destructive protest so that the whole efforts would not be in vain,” Popoola said.
