Soludo swears in new Anambra transition committee chairs

The newly appointed Transition Committee Chairmen for the 21 local government areas of Anambra State have vowed to support Governor Chukwuma Soludo in realizing his vision of transforming Anambra into a livable and prosperous state.

This commitment was made shortly after the chairmen were officially sworn in by Governor Soludo at the state executive council chambers in Government House, Awka.

Governor Soludo had recently submitted the names of the 21 TCC and councillors to the state House of Assembly for approval, in accordance with section 208 of the Local Government Law 1999, as amended (number 6 law of 2012). These appointments are set for a tenure of three months. The state lawmakers also confirmed councillors for the 326 wards across Anambra.

During the confirmation session held by the House of Assembly, it was noted that two councillor nominees from Ogbaru and Nnewi South local government areas were not confirmed due to alleged petitions against their nominations by various stakeholders.

The newly sworn-in chairmen are: Ifeanyi Chiweze (Anambra East), Fidelis Nnazo (Anambra West), Romanus Ibekwe (Anaocha), Chinedu Okafor (Awka South), Alphonsus Ofumele (Ayamelum), Chijioke Ozumba (Dunukofia), and Stanley Nkwoka (Idemili North).

Additional chairmen include: Chinedu Ononiba (Njikoka), Val Ezeogidi (Nnewi South), Franklin Nwadialo (Ogbaru), Anthony Nwora (Onitsha North), Casmir Nwafor (Orumba North), and Shedrack Azubuike (Orumba South).

Eight chairmen were re-appointed: Chibuike Ofobuike (Aguata), Thankgod Aniagor (Awka North), Amaka Obi (Idemili South), Emeka Orji (Onitsha South), Anayo Orjiakor (Ihiala), Chris Obiora (Nnewi North), Chimezie Obi (Ekwusigo), and Emma Nweke (Oyi).
