The Coalition of South East Youth for Democracy has raised concerns over attempts to cause disunity in the Southeast region.
In a statement titled “Stop using reverse psychology to cause division in Igboland,” CESYD warned:
“Desist from using reverse psychology to cause division in Igboland… allow the people to breathe.”
The group, led by Comrade Wisdom Akunna Fabulous, threatened, “We will name and shame those planning to hijack the South East Development Commission by planting stooges to channel public wealth into their pockets, denying the benefits to the long-suffering Igbo people.”
CESYD reacted to the controversy surrounding the establishment of SEDC, stating, “The commendations and appreciations that greeted the passage and signing into law of the SEDC bill were spontaneous and altruistic.”
They noted, “Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu, played a crucial role in ensuring the SEDC Act became a reality.”
CESYD views attempts to compare Kalu’s efforts with past representatives as “reverse psychology,” aimed at causing divisiveness amongst stakeholders.
The statement emphasized, “CESYD aligns with champions of sociopolitical renaissance in Igboland, including the Deputy Speaker… warns fifth columnists to desist from fanning the embers of disunity.”
They vowed, “We will name and shame selfish individuals seeking to hijack SEDC for personal gain.”
