The All Progressives Congress candidate for the Oredo Federal constituency, Hon. Osaro Obaze, stated yesterday that the reason he wants to represent the region in the green chamber is to sponsor bills that will address the security system in Nigeria.
LEADERSHIP NEWS reported that this was said during a news conference at his campaign council office in Benin City, Edo State. Obaze who was also a former local government council chairman in the Oredo local government region.
“Nigeria has a systemic security problem; I’ll sponsor bills to support the state police so they can fix it. Additionally, there is a need for true federalism, if such a thing even exists, so that those with wealth can govern and levy taxes on the central government. We will try to see that the constitutional definition of the traditional institution’s duty is followed”, he declared.
He also stated that he would support legislation that would outline the traditional institutions’ place in governance, advance primary healthcare, and work to foster a climate that would make the private sector the primary driver of job growth.
“I want to actively participate in the legislative process by introducing bills and motions that will improve my people’s quality of life. I’ll focus on the important issues surrounding the economy, agricultural education, the growth of sports, cultural values, public infrastructure, and security.
“In an effort to combat growing inflation and lower the degree of poverty among Nigerians, I shall push vigorously, legislation that would enhance the nation’s economic fortunes, boost the purchasing power of typical Nigerians, and improve the value of our currency”, he said.
