The National Economic Council is currently meeting at the Council Chambers of the State House in Abuja on Thursday.
The 36 governors of the federation’s states, the Director General of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, and representatives from the World Bank and other government agencies are also present at the meeting, which is being led by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The Council is gathering again to discuss the revised palliative package for Nigerians in light of the recent increase in petrol prices brought about by market forces and the termination of the country’s petroleum subsidy.
President Bola Tinubu has ordered a review, so that topic, along with others, should be discussed at length at the upcoming meeting.
The meeting is currently in a private session, and the press has been asked to leave. It is hoped that the outcomes of the meeting will be reported on in the media.
