The Supreme Court has affirmed the election of Agbu Kefas as Governor of Taraba State.
The Apex Court in a unanimous judgement of its five-member panel of justices on Thursday, dismissed the appeal filed by Muhammad Sani Yahaya of the New Nigeria Peoples Party against the election of Kefas, who contested under the platform of the PDP, for grossly lacking in merit.
THE five-member panel of the court held that the NNPP and its candidate failed to establish their case that Kefas was not elected by majority of valid votes.
However, the lead judge of the court, Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba, who read the lead judgment, held that the Court of Appeal was right to have easier dismissed the appeal on grounds of incomplete records of appeal.
Lawal however affirmed the judgment of the Court of Appeal affirming Kefas’ election.
