Taraba’s 2023 budget increased by N500m

Taraba’s 2023 budget increased by N500m

The 2023 budget for Taraba State has been unanimously enhanced by N500 million on Wednesday, from N172, 734, 537,459.40 to N173,234, 537,459.40.

Following the adoption of the report by the House Committee on Finance and Appropriations in plenary, it was decided to pass the budget.

After the budget was approved, the speaker, Joseph Albasu Kunini, told reporters that the assembly members had noticed that the State Independent Electoral Commission had not been given any funding in the governor’s earlier budget presentation.

According to him, the rise will allow the SIEC to hold local government elections in all 16 of the state’s local government councils.

Speaking on the budget’s expedited passage, the speaker explained that it was done so the state government could carry out ongoing projects.

He mentioned the approaching Yuletide as another important factor calling for the budget to be passed more quickly.

He informed them that doing this would allow them to begin their break, which, in his view, would allow them to return to their districts and engage with their voters.

He said that the members will work nonstop to make sure the budget was properly carried out.

The “Budget of Fulfilled Rescue Mission and Transition” wasn’t presented until late last month.
