After weeks of outage, the Transmission Company of Nigeria has successfully restored bulk power supply to several Northern states.
The restoration came after repairs were completed on the vandalized 330 kV Ugwuaji-Apir transmission line.
According to TCN, power was restored to Lafia, Makurdi, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, and Gombe states at 4:56 p.m. on Wednesday. The company’s engineers are now set to commence repairs on the second vandalized 330 kV transmission line to further restore power supply to other Northern parts.
TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah confirmed the development on Wednesday, stating that necessary materials for the repairs are already available.
The company has also deployed teams to patrol the 330 kV line 2 to ensure no other sections are impacted during the repair works, according to TheSun.
The restoration of power supply is expected to bring relief to residents and businesses in the affected states, who had been struggling with the prolonged outage. TCN’s efforts aim to ensure full power restoration to the region.
The affected states can now receive bulk power transmission, marking a significant step towards normalizing electricity supply in Northern Nigeria. TCN’s prompt response and repair work have minimized the disruption, and the company remains committed to maintaining reliable power transmission.
“The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has successfully restored bulk power supply through its 330kV Ugwuaji-Apir transmission line 1 as of 4:56 pm today, following the completion of repairs on the vandalized section of the line.
“With the restoration of this line, the Apir-Lafia 330kV transmission line 2 is now operational; also, bulk power transmission has been restored to Lafia, Makurdi, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, & Gombe States.
“As restoration efforts continue, with the TCN engineering team preparing to commence work on the second 330kV transmission line.
“All necessary materials for the repairs are on hand, and work will begin as soon as the site is secured for the safety of our personnel to the affected sections of the vandalized 330kV transmission line two.
“In the meantime, teams of linesmen will re-patrol the 330kV line 2 to ensure that no other sections are impacted as the repair works progress,” TCN stated.
