Former Senator Dino Melaye has responded to his suspension by the Peoples Democratic Party with scathing criticism aimed at the party’s acting national chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum.
Melaye, a strong supporter of PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, was suspended by the party’s Ayetoro/Iluagba Ward 1 in Kogi state on September 13 over alleged anti-party activities.
In a video shared on his X hsndle, Melaye accused Damagum of being the source of the PDP’s internal crisis, describing him as a man whose “belly is his God” and implying that his decisions are driven by personal interests rather than the party’s well-being.
Melaye dismissed Damagum’s claims that he was part of the opposition party’s internal problem, including the allegation that he contested for the Kogi state governorship election in 2023 but failed to vote for himself.
The suspended senator described himself as “air” and noted that “they don’t suspend air,” suggesting that his suspension is ineffective.
