Kashim Shettima, a former Governor of Borno State and ally of Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu, has said that only the All Progressives Congress national leader can defeat the Peoples Democratic Party flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar.

Shettima, who stated this during an interactive session with journalists on Journalist Hangout on Friday, said the emergence of Atiku as PDP’s presidential candidate had changed the dynamics of the 2023 election, and only Tinubu has the competence to handle such challenge.

He said, ”With the emergence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the dynamics have completely changed. If our party (APC) is serious about winning the 2023 general elections, picking Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu is almost paid to accompany.

“Amongst our presidential aspirants and with no means to demean any of our dynamic compatriots, Asiwaju is the only candidate with the pedigree, with the brand name, with the political eyes across the length and breadth of this country to stand shoulder to shoulder and even overwhelm former Vice president, Atiku Abubakar.

”Any attempt by the party to procure other option, and yes, the party has every right we are in a democratic dispensation, but I am afraid it must be catastrophic for the party. I am not a prophet of doom; I am an internal optimist; we have done our bidding, and by God’s grace, our candidate will emerge the presidential flag bearer of the APC in the next 72 hours.”

With the ruling party’s presidential primaries to begin in the next 72 hours, Nigerians are waiting to know who will emerge winner in the primary.
