President Bola Tinubu is set to lead the All Progressives Congress National Caucus meeting today at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
According to The PUNCH, the party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, confirmed this in an exclusive interview, assuring that both the Caucus and National Executive Committee meetings will proceed as planned.
“By the grace of God, the President will be there. He has already confirmed his attendance,” Basiru stated.
He also dismissed concerns that the meetings, which were postponed last year, might face another delay.
“No, nobody is postponing anything. The National Caucus and the NEC meetings will still be held Tuesday and Wednesday as scheduled,” he assured.
Background on the Postponement
The meetings were initially scheduled for 11 and 12 September 2024 but were suspended indefinitely without an official explanation.
For five months, there was uncertainty regarding when the NEC meeting would be rescheduled, with APC officials only offering vague responses such as “very soon” when questioned about new dates.
However, a leaked memo signed by Basiru has now confirmed that the National Caucus will meet today, 25 February 2025, at 6 p.m. at the Presidential Villa banquet hall, while the NEC meeting will take place at the APC national secretariat on 26 February.
Key Attendees
The meetings are expected to be chaired by President Tinubu, with Vice President Kashim Shettima, former President Muhammadu Buhari, APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and other key stakeholders in attendance.
