President Bola Tinubu is set to swear in seven newly appointed ministers to his cabinet on Monday, according to a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, through X (formerly Twitter).
The announcement follows the confirmation of the new ministers by the National Assembly last week.
Onanuga’s statement read, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will swear in the new seven ministers tomorrow, Monday. The Ministers are: Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda – Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction; Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi – Minister of Labour & Employment; Bianca Odinaka Odumegwu-Ojukwu – Minister of State Foreign Affairs.”
The statement continued, listing the remaining appointees, “Others are Dr. Jumoke Oduwole – Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment (Trade and Investment); Idi Mukhtar Maiha – Minister of Livestock Development; Yusuf Abdullahi Ata – Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development; and Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad – Minister of State Education.”
The confirmation of these ministers by the Senate last week paves the way for the ceremony and signals President Tinubu’s commitment to filling critical roles within his administration.
In another development, Oladele Oyelude, Director-General of the Tinubu-Shettima Ambassadors (a group that supported Tinubu’s 2023 election campaign), dismissed attempts to use opposition to the proposed tax reforms bill to foster a rift between President Tinubu and the northern region ahead of the 2027 election.
Oyelude, a leader within the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, addressed these concerns while speaking to journalists in Osogbo on Saturday.
Oyelude emphasized that opponents of the tax reforms bill should channel their objections through their National Assembly representatives rather than inciting regional discord.
He added that the bill is designed to encourage governors to improve internal revenue generation efforts, ultimately benefiting national growth and development.
