Tinubu to swear in three ministers today

President Bola Tinubu is set to induct three additional ministers into his 48-person cabinet, following a 48-day hiatus since the initial cabinet inauguration.

The information was verified by a senior official within the Presidency, who requested anonymity due to a lack of authorization to speak on the matter.

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place in the Council Chamber of the State House just prior to the commencement of the Federal Executive Council meeting.

Monday’s Federal Executive Council meeting marks the second session since President Tinubu’s inauguration on May 29. Notably, the Council had not convened since its inaugural gathering on August 28.

At that time, President Tinubu had sworn in and inaugurated 45 ministers.

Of particular interest is the replacement of Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, by Lawal from the same state. El-Rufai’s ministerial nomination had been rejected by the Senate. Lawal had previously served as the Secretary to the Kaduna State Government during El-Rufai’s administration.

The source within the Presidency stated, “There will be an FEC meeting at 12 pm tomorrow (Monday), and all three of them—Bio, Olawande, and Lawal—will take the oath before the meeting starts proper.”

The Federal Executive Council, recognized under Article 144 (5) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), serves as the “Executive Council of the Federation,” responsible for aiding the President in executing government projects and formulating policies to fulfill the functions of government as directed by the President.

The resumption of FEC meetings signifies an important step in the governance and policy-making process of the Nigerian government under President Tinubu.
