A former spokesman of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chuks Ibegbu, said that President Bola Tinubu’s mode of appointment is not different from that of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ibegbu, in an interview, said that Tinubu’s appointment is lobsided and does not reflect the interest of all tribes.
He reminded Tinubu that he is now the president of all the sections of the country, comprising those who voted for him and those who did not.
The former Ohanaeze spokesman advised the president that his appointments must reflect the nation’s geographical and ethnic diversities, according to Politics Nigeria.
When reminded that Ohanaeze gave huge support to the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during the last general election, Ibegbu noted that the Obi project was not an ethnic project, adding that it would have been a calamity if the Igbo apex body had not supported its son.
He said: “I will not clap for him (Tinubu), his appointment is lopsided, I thought he will improve on what the former President, Muhammadu Buhari did.
“The fact is that our position was clear that we have not produced a president, we had no reason not to support him (Peter Obi), our forefathers will not have forgiven us besides, Obi project was not an ethnic affair.”
