A Director in the Bola Tinubu 2023 presidential campaign, Naja’atu Muhammad, has tendered her letter of resignation.
According to Daily Post, she announced her resignation in a letter dated January 19, 2023 and addressed to the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
Until her resignation, Muhammad served as the Director of Civil Society in the Presidential Campaign Council of the APC.
She stated that the issues Nigeria faces compel her to continue championing the fight for a better country while maintaining a clear conscience.
She also ascribed her decision to leave party politics to recent changes in the country’s political and democratic environment.
Her resignation which comes comes few weeks to the presidential election, also draws more scrutiny to the several controversies trailing the APC’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.
Tinubu, has been in the spotlight over his speculated health issues, which has been constantly denied by the party’s presidential campaign council.
A section of Nigerians have continued to question the suitability of Tinubu for presidency especially in light of the various clips of him sleeping during official functions as well as some of his incoherent speeches during some of his campaigns.
On Friday, the Presidential Candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, knocked Tinubu for sleeping during a meeting of party leaders and presidential candidates which was organized by the National peace committee in Abuja.
“We just returned from a meeting of party leaders/Presidential candidates with the national peace committee in Abuja, the Presidential candidate of The @OfficialAPCNg @officialABAT slept through the meeting, he didn’t say a word. His party chair spoke on his behalf”, he tweeted.
It would also be recalled that spokesman of the APC Presidential Campaign, Festus Keyamo, who appeared Monday on Arise TV morning, dismissed the rumors about the health of Tinubu.
“No matter how much they repeat it; the opposition and some sections of the press, no matter how much they parrot it, the fact remains that there is no evidence to the contrary, that my candidate has some kind of health issues.
“I said on this programme before that the strategy has been to repeat a lie a thousand times until that lie sticks out as the truth. But as I speak with you in the last few weeks, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been more active on the campaign trail than any other candidate.
“He has been going around day to day, hour to hour from place to place, having several meetings and after all of the rallies, continuous consultations till the wee hours of the morning. So, how else can one prove his fitness other than that? It is just a strategy of the opposition to continue to stick to this and repeat it a thousand times.
“But, let me tell you, ordinary Nigerians watching their television screens reading about him have made up their minds. I can tell you that no matter how much you continue to repeat it, there is no problem at all with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“I have not seen anything happen to my candidate that has not happened to any other candidates. Slip of tongue here and there. It has happened to Atiku. It has happened to Obi and his running mates. It has happened to the spokespersons. The PDP spokespersons and their candidates have asked Nigerians to vote for APC even far more than the APC people have asked Nigerians to vote for APC.
“So what was happening to my candidate? Has he fainted? Has he collapsed? Has he missed his steps climbing? What has happened to him? nothing has happened to him.
“So when you talk about health status, there must be a basis by which somebody will now say okay, I need to disclose my health status. There must be a basis but there is absolutely no basis. If there is a basis, then perhaps we will call for it.”
