Tiv youth group condemns amnesty call for herdsmen

An apex socio-cultural organization, Tiv Youth Organisation, has condemned recent amnesty calls for bandits, terrorists and armed herdsmen from certain quarters.

The Abuja Chapter of the group made the condemnation through its new president, Joseph Saater Undu, during his inaugural address, according to AIT News.

While condemning the call, Undu said security operatives should be directed to clamp down on all identified security threats and neutralize them to give the citizens a new lease of life.

This is achievable if the government is sincere and willing to end insecurity in the country.

He said, “Arrested suspects should be charged to court to answer for their crimes against innocent Nigerians, the president and the National Assembly must establish Special Courts for the speedy trials of suspects arrested for terrorism, banditry and kidnapping.”

Undu described the widespread insecurity ravaging the country, especially in North Central Nigeria as an orchestration by marauding armed herdsmen, bandits and kidnappers and the major cause of Nigeria’s current food crisis
