Former President Donald Trump, along with his sons and entrepreneurs, launched a new cryptocurrency platform on Monday evening. The event, which was streamed online, provided limited information about the platform.
It was revealed that the platform would offer digital “tokens” allowing users to participate in decision-making processes related to the platform.
This launch took place despite an alleged assassination attempt on Trump the previous day at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The platform, named World Liberty Financial, plans to use decentralized finance technology. DeFi uses blockchain technology to facilitate transactions without traditional intermediaries like banks.
Users will be able to lend or borrow cryptocurrencies directly from each other, a feature already available on established platforms such as Aave.
Donald Trump Jr. described the initiative as “the start of a financial revolution” during a session broadcast on X, formerly known as Twitter.
