The United Nations has expressed concerns over the spy balloon row between the United States and China.

Premium Politics reported Friday that the US revealed it is tracking a suspected Chinese high-ultitude spy balloon, which is likely collecting information.

Although the Chinese government said it is looking into the allegation, the US called off its Secretary of State, Antony Blinken’s planned visit to China.

“On this particular incident, obviously, the two will have to navigate it. But given the global leadership position of both countries, I think it is incumbent on them to do whatever they can to lower tensions,” Dujarric said.

The Federal Aviation Administration, whose control over airspace ends at 60,000 feet above sea level, declined comment, according to CNN report.

Chinese officials reitrated that the balloon was a civilian airship used for research, which deviated far from its planned course.
