A prominent member of the New Nigeria People’s Party and former National Secretary of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, Buba Galadima, has stated that it is impossible for the entire northern region to unite behind a single presidential candidate in the 2027 election.
In an interview with Sun, Galadima emphasized the democratic nature of Nigeria, where electorates have the freedom to make diverse choices. Addressing the notion of a unified northern candidate, he remarked, “We are not in the church; we are not in the mosque. Why should we speak with one voice?”
Highlighting the essence of democracy, he added, “That is democracy. If you bring three people together, everybody has got a different way of thinking on how to solve a certain problem.”
Galadima also claimed that the NNPP’s votes were suppressed during the 2023 general elections. “NNPP is doing very well because after the elections, we discovered that our votes were suppressed. Over five million of our votes were suppressed,” he said.
