US election: Harris dares Trump to debate, slams policies

The presumptive United States Democratic nominee, Kamala Harris, launched a scathing attack on Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Atlanta, Georgia, on Tuesday.

Harris told the crowd of approximately 10,000 supporters, “Now, the baton is in our hands… We have a fight in front of us… And we are the underdogs in this race.”

Harris’s campaign has gained momentum since President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 election, raising $200 million and coalescing much of the party behind her.

She said, “The momentum in this race is shifting, and there are signs that Donald Trump is feeling it.”

Trump recently stated he would not debate Harris, and has since unleashed a barrage of insults against her.

Harris responded, “Well Donald, I do hope you’ll reconsider to meet me on the debate stage, because as the saying goes, if you’ve got something to say, say it to my face.”

Harris also repeated her popular line, “In this campaign, I will proudly put my record against his any day of the week.

“I know Donald Trump’s type… As a former prosecutor and California attorney general going up against predators and fraudsters,” she added.

When asked about her vice presidential pick, Harris told reporters, “Not yet.” However, her team announced that Harris and her new running mate would campaign next week in several battleground states.

Harris unveiled her first television ad since replacing Biden, while the Trump camp released a dueling spot attacking her on immigration.

Harris swatted away the attack, saying, “Donald Trump does not care about border security… He only cares about himself.”

Harris emphasized her focus on key economic goals, including expanding affordable healthcare and tackling rising consumer costs. She also attacked Trump over his “extreme abortion bans.”

In a sign of Georgia’s potential competitiveness, Trump and his running mate J.D. Vance announced they would hold their own rally in Atlanta on Saturday.

Harris insisted, “The path to the White House runs right through this state.”

The Trump campaign responded, “Kamala Harris and her complicit cronies have made the great people of Georgia pay a hefty price for their woke policies.”
