VIDEO: Shettima arrives Nigeria’s embassy in China ahead of MoU signing

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Thursday arrived at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Beijing, China for the signing of a memorandum of understanding.

 

The MoU is between the Nigerian National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure and several partner organizations in China.

 

The MoU covers areas such as advanced manufacturing technology, mechatronics, nanotechnology, reverse engineering, power equipment and engineering designs.

 

Some of the areas the MoU will enable NASENI achieve great success would be access to cutting-edge technologies and equipment that will enhance its capacity to deliver on its mandate of nurturing an appropriate and dynamic science and engineering infrastructure base for achieving home-initiated and home-sustained industrialization for Nigeria.

 

The MoU signing ceremony will be witnessed by officials from both countries, including the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NASENI, Mr. Khalil Halilu, who was appointed by President Bola Tinubu in September 2023.

 

The Belt and Road Forum is a platform for international cooperation initiated by China in 2013 to promote connectivity and cooperation among countries along the ancient Silk Road routes and beyond.

 

The forum aims to enhance policy coordination, infrastructure connectivity, trade facilitation, financial integration and people-to-people exchanges among participating countries.

 

The theme of this year’s forum is “Belt And Road Cooperation: Shaping A Brighter Shared Future”.

 

Shettima had delivered a paper at the forum on Wednesday, titled “Digital Economy As A New Source Of Growth”.

 

He will also hold bilateral meetings with other leaders and dignitaries attending the forum.
