The former Sokoto State governor, Sen. Aliyu Wamakko has urged the leaders of the All Progressive Congress and the party’s supporters in Sokoto State to celebrate with care and conduct peaceful victory rallies, following the party’s victory in the State.
He made the call, shortly after the official declaration of the March 18 Governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission in the state, on Monday.
The INEC Returning Office in the State, who is the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Dutsin-ma, Prof. Armaya’u Hamisu, declared Ahmed Aliyu of APC as the winner of the governorship election in the state.
Aliyu won the election after polling 453,661 votes, to defeat his major opponent from the Peoples Democratic Party, Malam Sa’idu Umar, who polled 404,632 votes in the election.
In a statement issued to newsmen by Bashar Abubakar, his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Wamakko appreciated the residents and the party’s stakeholders in Sokoto State.
“We have seen a peaceful contest that led to the victory of APC.
“Our stakeholders have shown dedication to the party’s standard as a peace-loving party in the state and the country, we should sustain the tempo,“ Wamakko stated.
While expressing gratitude to the Almighty Allah for granting the party a hard-fought victory in the election, Wamakko dedicated the victory to the peace-loving people of the state, noting that, they stood with the party through thick and thin.
The former governor promised the people of the state that, they will never regret reposing tremendous confidence and trust in the APC at all levels.
While pledging the party’s support for the people, He promised that the APC government under Aliyu will give them a real dividend of democracy.
