Why I deleted tweet condemning Deborah’s murder —Atiku

Atiku-Abubakar

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has explained why his tweet condemning the murder of Deborah was deleted.

At the Channels Television people’s town hall meeting on Sunday, Atiku was quizzed by a random Twitter user about his reason for deleting his tweet in which he condemned the murder.

He responded by saying he requested that the tweet be deleted since he did not authorize the content before posting, however, he condemned it in subsequent tweets.

Atiku said, “I asked the tweet to be deleted because I normally approve every tweet and since I did not approve the tweet, I asked them to delete it. If you read my subsequent statement on that murder, I condemned it.”

Deborah Samuel, was a student who was murdered by religious extremists in a school in Sokoto, for alleged blasphemy on May 12.
