The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike on Tuesday asked the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries to bow before President Bola Tinubu.
This happened during the official inauguration of the Arterial Road N20, which runs from Northern Parkway to Outer Northern Expressway in the Federal Capital Territory.
The Arterial Road N20 is one of the transverse arterial roads connecting the Outer Northern Expressway and the Outer Southern Expressway through the sector centres.
During the inauguration, while he was giving his address, Wike, called out the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries, both women and men to come before the president to take a bow, a display of appreciation for their appointments.
The FCT stated that before now they were not able to attain this position but the president had made it possible for them to attain the peak of their careers.
Wike said, “Today, most of them had never dreamt in their life that they would reach the peak of their career, that is very very important, not just the infrastructure everyday, so if you permit me, I don’t know the beneficiaries, the permanent secretaries, are they the one here? Come out…both women and men. Take a bow before Mr. President.
“Your excellency, those are the very first set of permanent secretaries that you made… These are the technical team now that we have, so, I want to sincerely thank you.
“Most of them have been going to churches and mosques, they have been praying now that God should make them head of service but it was not there before, for them to be head of service but now you have made it available.”
In response, the president commended Wike, the FCT Administration, the contractors, engineers, and all those who contributed to the completion of the project, saying: “Your hard work and dedication have made this day possible.”
“The efforts of the minister and his team have brought to fruition a critical artery that will significantly enhance connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and improve the quality of life for the residents of the FCT.
“On that note, ladies and gentlemen, it is my singular honour to commission the full-scope development of Arterial Road N20 from Northern Parkway to Outer Northern Expressway to the glory of the Almighty God and service to humanity,” the president concluded.
