The camps of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar have met in Port Harcourt, the state Capital.

According to The Nation, Governor of Adamawa state, Ahmadu Fintiri led the Atiku’s team that met with Wike’s camp in the Government House, Port Harcourt on Friday.

Others present at the meeting include former governors Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe state and his counterpart in Cross River, Donald Duke; former attorney-general of the federation (AGF), Bello Adoke and former PDP governorship candidate in Ondo State, Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN).

Fintiri, who spoke after the meeting said, “…at the end of the day, we will broker peace and unify the party and Nigerians.”

However, a source who spoke under the condition of anonymity, said that there is still wrangling. “They met and are to meet again. They have started the reconciliation process and hope to unite the party and unite the nation. That is the official position.”

Recall that Atiku and Wike had a fallout following the decision of the PDP standard’s bearer to wiled the Vice-presidential ticket to the Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa.

Wike, who was runner-up at the PDP’s presidential primaries was selected by the National Working Committee to run a joint ticket with Atiku in the 2023 presidential election.

However, the former Vice-President took a U-turn, snub the committee’s choice and went for Wike’s counterpart in Delta State.

This had caused an internal crisis in the party, as both Wike-Atiku camps had been at loggerheads, since the fallout.
