The councillor representing Ward 9 in Obio/Akpor LGA in Rivers State, Achor Nna, has resigned his appointment as the leader of the legislative council.
Nna and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike are from the same ward.
Nna resigned in a letter dated March 7, 2024, addressed to the clerk of the house, Rosemary Brown, according to Peoples Gazette.
His resignation came as an aftermath of his conviction of the truth about the political crisis in the state.
While declaring his support for Governor Siminialayi Fubara, Nna maintained that his resignation does not negate his earlier resolve to support President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.
“This resignation is borne out of my personal conviction to align with the truth in the face of the current political issues in Rivers,” said the politician in the letter.
He attributed his action to “unwarranted intimidation, marginalisation, coercion, bullying and arm-twisting” from the leaders of the Obio/Akpor LGA.
Mr Nna added, “I want to align with the progressive minds to liberate and develop Rivers. Let it be known that this resignation will never negate my earlier resolve to work in consonance with President Bola Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’.”
