Yahaya Bello names anointed candidate for kogi APC gov primary

With all indications, the All Progressives Congress in Kogi State may be getting its house in order, ahead of the party’s governorship primary scheduled for this Friday, in the state.

It was a seamless effort for the party on Thursday, when the current Deputy Governor of the state, Edward Onoja, whom everybody believed, was going to take over from Governor Yahya Bello, because of his closeness to his boss, announced his intention to withdraw from the race, after Mr. Bello pickecd his preferred candidate, during a stakeholders meeting in Lokoja, on Thursday. .

During the stakeholders meeting, organized by the governor, Mr. Bello unveiled the Accountant General of the state, Muhammed Ododo, as the candidate to succeed him After leaving office.

However, in an event that look like a dramatic twist, some other aspirants, such as Mohammed Asuku, David Jimoh, Ashiru Idris, Momoh Jubril, and Okala Yakubu, also withdrew from the governorship race, without any rift.

However, shortly after the announcement, Onoja and Asuku, took to their social media accounts to announce their intention, to withdraw from the race.

The deputy governor wrote on his Facebook page, “To God be the glory for life and divine health. My appreciation to my leader, HE Alhaji Yahaya Bello, and all my supporters for your love and prayers. Let love, patience, and it will perseverance lead. I am forever grateful.”

Asuku, also wrote, “I sincerely appreciate His Excellency, my benefactor, for all that Allah has been using him to do in my life.

“As such, I hereby submit myself publicly to the decision taken today and I will forever live to remain loyal and dedicated to the decision of my party as I enjoin all my well-wishers to work with us for our great party APC to become victorious in the world November 11th General Election.

The Chairman of the primary committee, Governor Bello Matawale of Zamfara state, assured that all other aspirants who have not withdrawn from the race are free to participate in Friday’s primary election.
