Yobe APC chair allegedly misappropriates 2023 election funds

Alhaji Mohammed Gadaki

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Yobe State, Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka, has allegedly misappropriated and diverted the 2023 Presidential election funds.

This was disclosed in a petition written by a group, Yobe APC Mandate, against Gadaka.

The group in the petition signed by its Chairman, Comrade Mal Yusuf Mam, which was directed to the National Chairman of the APC, Dr Umar Ganduje, also alleged that Gadaka has not convened a meeting of the state executive committee and state working committee in more than a year.

The Chairman was also accused of anti-party activities in the last presidential election, which gave victory to the Peoples Democratic Party, in the last election in the state.

The petition reads partly: “The Chairman further made the situation worse when he secretly engaged in anti-party activities by mobilizing support for the PDP presidential candidate through directing APC members across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state to vote for the PDP.

“It may be of interest to you to note that, the Chairman lacks all the leadership qualities to administer the party affairs in Yobe State.

“He lacked a sense of judgment and reconciliation to bring unity amongst the party members in the state.

“This is quite in contrast with Article 7(i) of the APC Constitution as one of the objectives of the party is to foster unity.

“The Yobe State APC Chairman does not possess the minimum constitutional requirement of SSCE results that will help him to communicate, read write and represent the party in any official capacity.”

However, the Office of the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the party, has said to have also received a copy of the petition.

Meanwhile, efforts made to have Gadaka comment on the issues raised in the petition were not successful while filing this report.
