The Senator-elects of the All Progressives Congress, in the 10th National Assembly, alongside their colleagues from other political parties, had on Monday, endorsed the candidacy of Senator Godswill Akpabio and Senator Barau Jibrin, as the Senate President and Deputy Senate President, respectively.
The combined lawmakers, across different political, come together to accept the All Progressives Party’s decision, by supporting the two party’s anointed candidates, also held a consultative meeting with the APC’s Senator Abdullahi Adamu’s-led working committee, ahead of the inauguration of the incoming assembly.
The APC leadership had come together to zone the leadership of the assembly, and Akpabio and Jibrin were both find qualified for the number one and two positions of the red chamber.
However, the stand of the party has created a lot of division in the party, with some aspirants, agitated about the party’s zoning system, noting that it would not give room for healthy competition, to pick a better aspirant, through votes.
Disclosing this via its official Twitter handle on Tuesday, the party wrote, “10th National Assembly Senator-elects across political parties joined the APC endorsed candidates for Senate President & Deputy Senate President, Godswill Akpabio & Barau Jibrin to a consultative meeting with the Sen. Abdullahi Adamu-chaired National Working Committee.”
