17,299 members of the All Progressive Congress in Sokoto State have reportedly defected to the Peoples Democratic Party.
Politics Nigeria reported that the defection was recorded on Sunday in Silame Local Government Area, even as the PDP governorship candidate for Sokoto, Saidu Umar took his campaign to the local government.
Umar described the two-term administration of the incumbent state governor, Aminu Tambuwal, as a good omen for the state.
Umar promised to continue in the footsteps of Tambuwal, as he assured the Silame residents of executing the Rundi-Katami-Silame road project for the benefit of the people.
He further pledged to look at the issue of the Surame Monument to enhance the revenue generation drive of not only the local government but the state as a whole.
