A former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress for the Peoples Democratic Party.
Premium Politics had on Sunday reported that the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council appointed Dogara as a member.
Before his defection, the lawmaker and other Christian politicians in the ruling All Progressives Congress opposed the party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket and demanded a Christain as a vice president.
Meanwhile, Dogara and some aggrieved northern APC leaders had during the weekend declared support for Atiku.
Aside from Dogara and APC Christain members, including a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, the Northern Elders Consultative Forum also formally adopted Atiku on Friday.
