A former Rivers State lawmaker, Nnam Robinson Ewoh, has made scathing remarks about Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Ewoh described Wike as a politician who has never won an election through genuine voter support.
According to Ewoh, Wike’s electoral success can be attributed to manipulated results rather than popular votes. This assertion adds to the ongoing controversy surrounding Wike’s political career.
Ewoh also criticized Wike’s influence within the Peoples Democratic Party, stating that his involvement has contributed to the party’s decline. He emphasized that Wike has never been a positive force for the PDP, according to Politics Nigeria.
The former lawmaker expressed confidence in Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s ability to secure a second term in 2027, despite Wike’s influence. Ewoh noted that the outcome will depend on Rivers State votes, not Wike’s individual vote.
Ewoh cautioned President Bola Tinubu to exercise caution in his dealings with Wike, suggesting that the minister may turn against him in the future.
This warning comes amidst reports of Wike’s rift with Governor Fubara following the 2023 elections.
The development highlights the ongoing tensions within Rivers State politics and the PDP. As the 2027 elections approach, the dynamics between Wike, Fubara, and other key stakeholders will be closely watched.
“For Wike to win elections, they have to write results for him. He has never won an election by popular vote.
“Wike has never been a success story for the PDP. He has been a disaster for the PDP.”
Ewoh added that despite Wike’s influence, Governor Siminalayi Fubara will secure his second term in 2027. “What will determine Governor Fubara’s return in 2027 are Rivers’ votes, not Wike’s vote. Wike has a single vote, and that cannot make the governor lose the election.”
