The mother of legendary Nigerian musician Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has publicly pleaded for help, urging Nigerians to intervene in her son’s relationship with Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru.
In an emotional video that went viral on Thursday evening, Mrs. Rose Idibia expressed deep concern over her son’s recent actions, claiming that he is “not in his right senses” due to his ongoing divorce proceedings with his estranged wife, Annie Idibia.
Appealing to the public, she called on Nigerian mothers to join her in begging Hon. Osawaru to “free” her son, alleging that mysterious beads placed on his neck and wrist may be influencing his behavior.
“Good evening, Nigerians. My name is Mrs. Rose Idibia, the mother of 2face. This message is for Miss Natasha Osawaru of Edo State. I’m calling on all mothers in Nigeria to help me beg her to free my son,” she pleaded.
“My son is going through a divorce process, and he is clearly not in his right senses now. I know my son well. That is not him. Please Natasha, the beads you put on his hand and on his neck, remove them and free him.”
The video surfaced shortly after a clip of 2Baba proposing to Osawaru set social media ablaze.
The footage showed the singer presenting a ring to the lawmaker while they danced together at a private gathering, surrounded by friends. The two then shared a long embrace, confirming speculation that had been circulating for weeks.
2Baba’s public declaration of love for Osawaru came just a day before the proposal.
In a video posted on his Instagram page, the African Queen crooner confirmed their romantic relationship and dismissed claims that the Edo lawmaker was responsible for his failed marriage.
“Hon. Natasha has been dragged, she has been called all sorts of names, she has been labelled as a home breaker,” he said.
“She is a young, brilliant, amazing woman, and she had nothing to do with what is happening between me and Annie in our marriage. Yes, I love her. She is amazing, and she is cool. I want to marry her.”
Rumors about 2Baba and Osawaru’s relationship had been gaining momentum after the musician was spotted at the Edo State House of Assembly and later seen with her at a Lagos club.
The confirmation of their romance has now sparked mixed reactions, with some fans supporting his decision while others question the timing, given his ongoing divorce.
Osawaru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly representing the Egor Constituency under the Peoples Democratic Party, was elected in April 2023.
