The Gombe Sate Government has initiated plans to enrol students of all tertiary institutions in the state into its newly introduced health insurance scheme known as ‘GOHEALTH’.
The executive secretary of the scheme, Dr Abubakar Musa, stated this during a media parley organised by GOHEALTH at Custodian Hotel, Gombe, on Thursday, according to Leadership.
The secretary said the agency would liaise with the management of the schools to channel the medical levies paid by students annually into the scheme for better utilization and service delivery.
Already, the management of the Gombe State University has subscribed to the development. The idea is also being sold to the ministry of higher education so that all other institutions would key into it.
The secretary also emphasized that, the present administration under Governor Inuwa Yahaya was the brain behind the GOHEALTH scheme, in order to enable all residents of the state access health care services at affordable prices.
Musa also stated that, the health scheme would be accessible by indigenes on transit to or from other states who may be involved in accidents anywhere, that they would be treated in any National Health Insurance Scheme accredited hospital in any state of the federation.
