The Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, has lamented the high spate of political violence involving members of the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress in the State.
Zulum stated this through a press statement issued by his spokesperson,Isa Gusau, on Thursday.
In the statement, Zulum directed the state commissioner of police to investigate and ensure all culprits are arrested and prosecuted.
“I have received reports on renewed acts of political violence in the state,” the statement quoted Zulum as saying, adding, “I strongly condemn these extremely unnecessary acts of violence and hereby direct the Commissioner of Police and the DSS to immediately investigate and ensure anyone involved is made to face the full wrath of the law.” he said.
He also urged supporters of all political parties to desist from disseminating false statements capable of inciting violence.
“I urge all stakeholders of political parties in particular, party executives, candidates and campaign teams to desist from any form of violence and to campaign peacefully and in accordance with all provisions of the electoral act and laws of Borno State”. He said.
