A spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has brought the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission before a Federal High Court in Abuja to request the arrest of the Presidential candidate president of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, for alleged corruption.
Both the Code of Conduct Bureau and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Offenses Related Commission have joined the lawsuit.
It was previously reported that Keyamo gave the EFCC, ICPC, and CCB a 72-hour deadline on Wednesday to arrest former Vice President Atiku for suspected corruption, which was allegedly disclosed by his supposed aide, Michael Achimugu.
In Keyamo’s previous plea to the anti-graft agencies on Wednesday, he based this claim on an allegedly viral recording of Achimugu, alleging that former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, is accused of siphoning public monies through Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) between 1999 and 2007.
He had stated that Atiku should be detained and charged for violating the Code of Conduct for Public Officers, money laundering, criminal breach of trust, criminal misappropriation, and conspiracy.
But in a lawsuit submitted on Friday, Keyamo pleaded with an Abuja Federal High Court to order the anti-graft organizations to look into the situation and bring charges against Atiku.
