The governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has accussed the Independent National Electoral Commission of breach of electoral Act, telling the commission to note of all the concerns raised by Nigerians, regarding the infractions during the general elections, held on Saturday in Nigeria.
The governor, who spoke through a statement issued by his Special Adviser on media, Terver Akase on Tuesday, stated that, the Saturday general election in the country, was mere by violation of the electoral Act.
While alledging INEC of violating the electoral ACT, he said, ‘Though, several violations of the electoral Act, were witnessed in the conduct of the presidential election and national assembly election, my team is assessing the situation and will make my position known, soon.
Ortom, while appealing to the people of Benue State, to remain calm and not take laws into their hands, said, “”I urge the people the people of the state to remain calm, law-abiding, and as peaceful as they have been.
While appreciating people for their support, he said, “I commend the resilience of those, who were able to vote during the elections, despite the current economic situation in the country.”
Governor Ortom, who his second tenure will end this year, was the Senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, for Benue North -West, in the Saturday national assembly election but was defeated by his opponent from the All Progressives Congress, Titus Zam, who Polled a total score of 146,151, while the governor Polled a total score of 106, in the election.
