Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas had on Saturday, declared a state of emergency on basic and post-basic education in the state.
The governor, who disclosed this while expressing concern with the deplorable state of the educational system in the state during an interactive media session in Jalingo on Saturday, promised a compulsory and free quality education for all, of his administration, in the state.
Kefas, who expressed the commitment of his administration to boosting the training and retraining of teachers in Taraba State, stated that the development has caused him a sleepless night.
Restating his commitment to the welfare of teachers in the state, governor Kefas promised to introduce motivations into their package.
Kefas, who said his government would give room for the people to prioritize their areas of developmental projects, promised the adoption of a peer review mechanism in allocating projects to local government areas.
Similarly, the governor who stated that his government has prioritized the security of life and properties in the state assured the residents of utmost security.
“We shall consult the people of various local government areas to decide on projects that are good for them.
“They are the ones who voted for us and as such, we should engage them in project locations. This would make us serve them better,’ he said.
