The lawmaker, who is representing Ogbaru II State constituency of Anambra State, Somtochukwu Udeze has emerged as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, in the just concluded inauguration of the House.
Udeze, who took over from the former assembly Speaker, Uchenna Okafor, who lost his re-election bid to the house, during the last governorship election in the state, was elected by 30 Honourable members of the house, following his nomination by Ikenna Ofodeme and seconded by Chimezie Ikwunne, the members representing Ekwusigo Constituency and Awka North Constituency respectively.
However, the newly elected speaker of the House was sworn in by the acting Clerk of the House, Ester Aneto, alongside his colleague, Chukwuma Okoye, who was elected Deputy Speaker 9f the House.
Meanwhile, the inauguration of the 8th assembly already took place before the arrival of the State governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, who got to the venue late.
