President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday, sworn in the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State, Ambassador Desmond Akawor, as a Commissioner of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
The swearing-in ceremony was briefly held, minutes before the commencement of the first Federal Executive Council meeting of the year, in the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Ambassador Akawor was recently screened for the office by the Senate, alongside others.
Akawor, until his appointment, was the Chairman of the ruling party, PDP in Rivers State.
The President, however, presided over the FEC meeting, immediately after the swearing-in ceremony.
The first FEC meeting in the year 2024, had in attendance, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume and other members of the cabinet.
