The Speaker of the Hose of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has described the explosion in Ibadan as “terrifying.”
The speaker, in a statement in Abuja signed by his special adviser on media and publicity, Musa Irish, lamented the fate of the victims and called for a proper investigation of the incident.
He said that the incident occurred when the government was focusing more on tackling insecurity, according to The Nation.
He said: “The explosion in a peaceful and populated ancient city like Ibadan is terrifying. It is more worrisome that it happened at a time when the government is tackling various security issues and threats to lives and property.
“My heart goes out to the people of Ibadan, especially the victims and their families over their avoidable losses.”
He also called for the arrest and prosecution of those suspected to have caused the explosion.
